Springs Hottest Trends
- Written by Clari Farkash
I have checked, double checked and triple checked and it’s true: floral prints are going to be big this season. From the small floral prints of this spring’s 1960’s inspired D&G collection to the giant floral prints of Diane von Furstenberg, flower power is definitely taking its share of the market in 2012.
These super femmy, bright blossoms donning figures this coming season will reach into the limelight for a lot of designers, whether they’re trying to look back to the 1940’s Hollywood glamor like Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, or super modern like Christopher Kane’s neon leather texture patterned laser cut flower designs.

Runner up to the romantic floral collections is going to be color blocking, especially with accessories like shoes and bags. Color blocking is a pretty strong statement that reminds us of the businesswomen in the 1980’s, but this time around the look may even make it over into the men’s side of the arena. More retro designs will display a fondness for 1970’s chic with silky peasant blouses and snug bell bottom jeans with platforms. It was a good look then and makes for a fine comeback, flattering all different kinds of figures. All white outfits are going to be all over the place too. Whether it is a dress with matching accessories or matching tops, bottoms and jackets. Labor day is a long, long ways away and white will make a pretty significant mark on the fashion scene well into the summer months. |
Finally, the big style maker of 2012 will be the shorts-suit. Both short and long shorts, over sized and fitted blazers will be everywhere. No matter how you cut it, the shorts-suit is coming back with a vengeance. Hop on the bandwagon now, it’s going to be fierce.
